Rudall Blanchard Associates appointed as Environmental Advisor for South Wales Wind Energy Developments
Rudall Blanchard Associates (RBA) has been appointed to undertake a series of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) to support Eclipse Energy in their evaluation of the potential development of wind energy resources within land belonging to Associated British Ports (ABP) South Wales.
The Gwynt Yr Hafan (Port Wind) project will evaluate areas within the Ports of Cardiff, Barry, Newport, Port Talbot and Swansea identified by the Welsh Assembly Government as potential ‘brown-field’ development sites in their study “The potential for wind power in urban, industrial and commercial sites of Wales”.
The detailed EIA studies, which will be undertaken throughout 2008, will involve the close liaison with the Eclipse Energy project team and will entail the management of a number of third party data gathering programmes, including ornithological, ecological and archaeological surveys, in order to complete the Environmental Statements to support the respective planning applications.
The award of these studies continues RBA’s successful working relationship with Eclipse Energy, following on from the completion of the Environmental Statement and associated support for the Ormonde Project located in the east Irish Sea. It also further establishes RBA as a significant player in the renewable energy sector.
