Bernie Steel
Has over 30 years experience of managing ES & H within the Power, Process and Oil, Gas & Chemical, Aerospace, Steel smelting & rolling, Transportation (rail & aviation), Manufacturing, Distribution, Facilities Maintenance and Construction industries.

Working for major companies such as Aramco, Huntsman, Eastman Chemicals, Saudi Arabian Royal Commission, Rolls-Royce Aerospace, Bechtel, Coca Cola, Hallmark, Marsh (Risk Management), and Accenture he has developed, implemented & managed ES&H and general Risk Management strategies & policies and ES&H and quality management systems, including Hazops; Hazids/Envids, risk assessments; Railway Safety Case development; SIMOPs, HSES. He has regularly led audit teams in the review of management systems and as part of contractor assessment teams both in the UK and internationally. He has also developed & implemented Safety Climate measurement tools & behavioral change processes and been involved in research projects for the HSE on the effectiveness of behavioral safety management systems.

He has also developed, implemented, and provided training in HSES management systems, behavioral change processes, and emergency response plans.

He has managed local consultants and liaised with regulators in several countries, and is well versed in the design and implementation of training programs and management presentations.

Bernie is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, a Registered Safety Practitioner, and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Health; he has published papers on the general application of behavior based management systems.
